Episode 27: Inspiring the Next Generation
How young talents are getting involved in the plastics industry
“We need to be more visible,” agree the guests on Episode 27 of “Wir sind Spritzguss.” The discussion centers on how we can inspire and attract more young people to the plastics industry. Selina Maget, Matthias Joos, and Mert Korkmaz—all three are talented youngsters in our industry who are actively involved with the VDMA’s Young Talents program and Career Friday at Fakuma. There they are sharing their experiences with school and college students, apprentices, and other career starters. They know that a world without plastics is unthinkable. One reason for this is that only plastics make it possible to tailor properties precisely to the intended application while allowing the material to be processed easily and energy-efficiently.
“Everyone is familiar with high-tech products like cars or smartphones. You don’t have to go out of your way to get people excited about them. But our products contain at least as much high-tech.”
